Looking for a discount, along with the very best that Content Equals Money can offer? For clients that are looking to establish a long-term content marketing relationship with us, we offer retainer contracts. Rather than purchasing our services ad-hoc, a retainer allows you to pay a lump sum up front for a retainer term of either 3 months, 6 months, or a year. Retainer clients enjoy lower prices and services that aren’t available to our ad-hoc clients.
Why a retainer?
We enjoy retainer clients because it allows us to set up a long-term relationship, complete with goals and writers specifically trained for you and your business. While our writers are excellent at providing copy for a large range of fields and clients, if we know you’re going to be sticking around for a while we’ll be able to get your writer perfectly attuned to your company and its needs. With a retainer, you get higher-quality work much faster!
How does it work?
During your initial consult (or subsequent consult if you start on an ad-hoc basis), we settle on a minimum monthly rate. This rate will depend on the amount of copy that you are projected to need at minimum, rather than an average cost – the idea is that you use up your minimum monthly rate each month.
For example, if your minimum monthly rate is determined to be $1000 and you would like to be on a 6 month retainer, you would pay $6000 up front.
When you work with us on a retainer basis, you get an invoice at the end of every month. The invoice will be itemized so that you know where the money went and how much you have spent. We are also happy to create a “master invoice” and break it up by client account if you have multiple writing projects for multiple clients. All of our retainer clients enjoy the same per-word billing style that our ad-hoc clients do – it’s just lower, so you get the most bang for your buck when it comes to great copy!
What if the amount of copy I order is less than my minimum?
If we don’t work, you don’t pay us. Any of your retainer that is leftover at the end of the month gets rolled over. For example, if your monthly minimum is $1000 and you only order $800 that month, the extra $200 applies to the following month. However, this is a rare occurrence – remember that the retainer amount is based on a minimum, not an average. You will always receive an invoice at the end of the month whether you have used up your retainer amount or not; this is so that you know where you are, and we will indicate the amount that is being rolled over.
What if the amount of copy I order is more than my retainer amount?
Got a new client to impress? Fantastic. If you end up going over the amount you paid in the retainer, we bill at the end of the month to make up the difference. So if you have a retainer of $1000 per month and end up ordering $1500 of copy, we bill you for $500 at the end of the month, which will be due on the 15th of the following month. So if in June you order $1500 of copy and you are on a $1000 retainer, you will have until July 15th to pay the $500.
Additional Services Only Available to Retainer Clients
In addition to providing our retainer clients with lower per-word rates as compared to ad-hoc clients, there are a number of additional services that we at Content Equals Money are only able to provide to retainer clients. Just like how if you build a partnership with our writers over time they can provide you with cream-of-the-crop copy because they’ll really be able to dig into your brand and audience, building a relationship with our management and thought leaders over time will allow them to data mine, provide keyword research, and a number of other services we are unable to do for ad-hoc clients.
